Kyoko Takayama

A 2012 alum of OFA, Kyoko Takayama is currently Organizing for Action’s East Bay Central Chapter's Co-lead. She is a permanent resident who has built and trained neighborhood teams for issue and event organizing covering issues such as immigration reform, climate change, gun violence and the Affordable Care Act. In 2014 she was part of the successful defeat of AB2145, legislation that undermined Community Choice energy programs in California.  Working with only a handful of volunteers, she made it possible for enrollment events to take place at Alameda County Library's 7 branches. Through 3 open enrollment periods she and the team reached over 1500 individuals and families to help them enroll and understand how to access health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.  Kyoko also trained volunteer leaders to organize phone banks, barnstorms and canvassing events for the Bernie Sanders campaign.  She co-organized the CD15 Bernie delegate caucus and used her extensive social media experience to activate a Facebook group & page and Twitter account for the Tri-Valley for Bernie campaign.
