With thousands of members from all walks of life, we get things done on critical issues impacting everyday Iowans. We believe in putting people first! People before Politics People before Profits People before Polluters And we put our communities before corporations! We’re really good at what we do. We’ve: • Stopped 100+ factory farms from building or expanding. • Forced Iowa to comply with the Clean Water Act! • Recovered more than $170,000 in stolen wages for workers in the past three years. • And, won strong ordinances to curb the growth of predatory payday lenders in Cedar Rapids, Windsor Heights, Des Moines, West Des Moines, Clive, Ames, Waterloo, Iowa City and Dubuque. That’s probably why we’re growing so fast. We are everyday people who talk, act and get things done on critical issues affecting everyday Iowans. Issues like having a factory farm move in next door, devaluing your property and ruining your quality of life; or shady lenders that take advantage of families. And we’re good at it. We've stopped dozens of factory farms from building; and, over the past few years, members have helped families recover over $5 million from shady lenders. We have thousands of members across Iowa from all walks of life – urban and rural, black and white, immigrants and lifelong Iowans – and we’re working together to get things done. CCI staff has over 100 years of combined experience. They provide the training and expertise, but it’s our members that provide the focus and the leadership and the power in numbers.
