The Progressive Coffee Caucus of Northwest Indiana is a community group dedicated to advancing progressive ideals through open dialogue and active participation within the democratic process. The PCC operates as a weekly discussion forum for experienced activists, public officials, and political newcomers on the left to express their opinions about current issues and explore possibilities for civic involvement in the Region. We seek to create solidarity beyond social boundaries in order to advance progressive ideals through civic education, legislative advocacy, and electoral politics. Our ultimate goal is to break through the partisan divide and empower ordinary people to advance economic, racial, and social justice within their communities with the advice and support of a growing community of progressive activists across Northwest Indiana Progressive Coffee Caucus is a 'Progressive' Group. We are not a Social Justice Warrior group. WE ARE AN OFFICIAL GROUP OF OUR REVOLUTION, and follow their bylaws. We get together and post about Progressive issues and how to get 'good' Progressive candidates in office. We are a democracy. Though there are members that have been appointed certain tasks such as FB, managing the website and e-mails, There is not just one leader in this group. We are equal. We are respectful. Leave your ego at the door. There are a few key points we wish to stress to all members, whether you just joined or have been members from the start. FIRST, the Progressive Coffee Caucus is not a group that belongs to we are progressives. Our goal is to serve as a discussion forum for ANY and ALL people who are interested in left-wing ideas, and strategies to take on the conservative political agenda. We have no interest or desire to endorse any political party or movement, but rather continue the spirit of political independence and critical thinking which brought many of us together through the 2016 election. We ask that the PROGRESSIVE COFFEE CAUCUS IS NOT TO BE USED TO RECRUIT FOR A PARTICULAR POLITICAL PARTY; that is for individual members to decide on their own. SECOND, we are a discussion group first and foremost. We try to focus on current political issues and rapidly changing events. We try to educate and guide progressives who seek to put on events, plan actions, or most especially, run for office. That is why we like to invite public officials, political activists of all stripes, and ordinary citizens on a equal basis. We seek to listen, learn, and understand the lessons we have all learned, and do not seek to impose any one particular set of views. Although things get heated, and we are all human, we ask that discussions be kept civil and in a spirit of progressive solidarity. FINALLY, we ask all of us to be united in our progressive views. The 2016 caused division not only in the country, but within political parties and movements. This is not surprising given the contentious and flawed nature of our electoral system. But while we all have given what we can to this campaign or that movement, we must keep in mind that we are facing a situation in which progressives are on the losing side in over 30 states, and in all branches of the federal government. We may differ in strategies, and we may differ in parties, but we must remember that united we stand, divided we beg. Let us stand together, and not let personality or private issues divide us. We must unite and secure a future that we can believe in. http://progcofffecaucus.wix.com/progcoffeecaucus ProgCoffeeCaucus@hotmail.com
