Pussy Division is a feminist group. Through activism and online outreach, we want to promote awareness around issues related to oppression and inequality. Ever wonder how we got our name? The word 'pussy' has been historically used to equate femininity with weakness and generally degrade those who identify as women or are feminine. Its a word that is used to oppress, is used to call people weak and to humiliate people. This understanding of femininity in our society is pervasive and incredibly harmful. We reclaim the word pussy for ourselves to name a group of people who are strong and taking action against oppression. Pussy Division is a group of Philadelphia feminist activists that are speaking out. Through guerrilla activism and online outreach, we want to promote awareness and generate discussions around issues related to oppression and inequality. Pussy Division is especially interested in issues related to rape culture, abuse, sexism and misogyny, racism, trans discrimination and other forms of oppression. We use social media and guerrilla marketing to bring attention to these issues. If you are interested in getting involved or working on projects with us or in your own city, please contact us.
