SSMC is a well-established, local nonprofit whose vision is "A sustainable future for everyone in San Mateo County." Our core programs are the Indicators Report, which has been produced annually since 1997; the Sustainability Awards Dinner, which has been held annually since 1999; and the new Sustainability Ideas Bank, which compiles policies and programs implemented by local governments and businesses to accelerate sustainability. In addition, SSMC engages regularly with a broad range of stakeholders from local governments, the business community, other nonprofits and academia to advance projects and programs that are consistent with the organization’s vision and mission (e.g. Reach Codes and buildings decarbonization).
